Marcarini
Brunate Barolo Nebbiolo
Mid crimson. The reasonably pale colour belies the power on the palate of this Barolo (La Morra). An earthy tarry note - a touch of mint. Medium to full bodied palate finishing with fine dry persistent tannins. I will be interested to see how my remaining 2 bottles will turn out. Should confidentally see out the 2020’s.

Aug 12th, 2024An over performer for the money. Was way more austere when I tasted a few years ago, and finally ready to drink. Tar, raspberry, wilted rose, dried mint, Saba. Delicious.

Dec 9th, 2019Tobacco, stinky red fruit, tar, black cherry. Pure and lean and muscular. There’s a purity to this on the palate- a real intense yet lifted red fruit influenced/ leather fruit. There’s a whiff of mint on the finish. Very good.

Jul 8th, 2019Darker and plummy in color. Rounded and good fruit. Gnarly stuff, dried rose and sour cherry. Balanced. Slightly drying at the edges.

Jun 23rd, 2019My own Barolo vs. Brunello,2013, half bottle, same price, challenge:
the Barolo was ethereal... light but fragrant. Roses. Olives. Drinking beautifully now but of course it should go longer. The brunello was cherry, earthy, medium tannins, tighter... but also showing well at an early age. I'm buying another of the Barolo.

This is quite impenetrable. Dark fruit/ on the nose brooding, almost inky blue fruit. Underneath blackcurrant, slate, black pepper, tarriness. Then in the palate pure, pure dark fruit and lean minerality. An exceptionally well preserved bottle, but a long time ahead. Great balance.
