This drop-dead gorgeous and extroverted Nero d’Avola will win a lot of hearts with its ripe wild berry fruits, backed by exotic spice, and sweet florals. Mineral-drenched cherries are contrasted by grippy acids that make the mouth water, while its spicy finish goes on and on and on. $20.00 (Eric Guido, Vinous, April 2020)

Good full red. Plum, apricot and nuts on the nose. Clean and fairly full in the mouth, with noteworthy flavor intensity of herbs and red fruit. Lively suggestions of spicy licorice on the juicy, increasingly tannic close. (Ian D'Agata, Vinous, August 2019)

A very nice surprise. Really enjoyed this esp for $18. Ripe and rich Nero d’avola. But great balance. Bold tannins. Buy a bunch. Reminds me of Calabretta Cara Cara, which I also love.

Loved this red. Super tannic and dry. So robust you almost need to pair it with food. Smells like bright fruits (strawberry, raspberry). Would love to have again

Rich, tart and heavy. Not fave, didn’t taste as fresh and light as I like.

The kind of simple, tasty, clean Italian red that you don’t find very often in the States.
