M. Chapoutier
Tournon Victoria Shiraz
Dark ruby in color with a purplish rim.
Tart on the nose with raspberries, cranberries, strawberries, barnyard, metals, vegetables, spices, smoke, bell pepper, herbs, spices and black pepper.
Medium bodied with medium plus acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate with cranberries, pomegranates, light vanilla, strawberries, peppercorn, green herbs, vegetables and spices.
Medium finish with soft tannins, tart cranberries and spices.
This spicy Australian Shiraz is a good food wine, but not fully balanced to drink by itself. Showing nice complexity and a soft mouthfeel, but is too tart for my taste.
Would benefit from a few years in the bottle. I let it open for an hour which didn't help much.
Aged for 12 months in stainless steel tanks and cement vats.
I paired it with light appetizers.
14.5% alcohol by volume.
83 points.
$15.

Pepper. Pepper. Pepper. If you like pepper, go tournon. No complexity. Just pepper.

Jan 25th, 2017Have you ever seen a wine label with braille on it? Since 1996, all Maison M. CHAPOUTIER labels feature the wine informations written in braille. This is a tribute to Maurice Monier de la Sizeranne, the inventor of the first abridged version of braille and founder of the Valentin đź’™
When I lived and worked in Dubai used to sell some of Chapoutier’s wines, so when I spotted this Aussie-made Shiraz by Chapoutier for $18 at Dan Murphy’s, I just had to try it.
In the glass it’s a garnet colour. The nose is rather delicate with hints of liquorice and blackberries. It has a soft texture in the mouth with juicy dark berries and a lick black jellybeans coming through.
All opinions are my own. Drink what you enjoy

Nice marketing shot by Chapoutier who offers here to discover the Australian Shiraz in a rather unbeatable quality/price ratio. We recognize the almost sweet Australian style reminiscent of some Italian wines. Chocolate notes red fruits, and woody tip.

2017 vintage. Black pepper on the nose. Tastes of red fruit and black pepper with nice tannins.
