Some appealing funk and crushed raspberries. No tannins left here. And a bizarre like wet clay note. I’m assuming this was not aged in amphorae. A divisive wine, but not without its charms.

I’ve never had a wine like this. It’s has a split personality. The nose has both super-young, tart berries, loads of nose-tickly rock dust, caramel, and a jarring oxidized note. Same thing on the palate. Tastes like someone blended a very young wine with a cooked, lifeless maderized bottle of yuk. If the whole wine tasted lifeless, I’d conclude it was poorly stored. But this sort of split personality leads me to think it was poorly made.

Reminiscent of satellite appellations of Bordeaux. Portuguese wine is coming along.

Lovin it. A bit of barnyard in a good way with some red currant. Great Baga texture and really good acid. Glu.

Nov 27th, 2014Baga dominated nose, with tart sour cherry, raspberry, some aronia and the quite characteristic stony graphite note. Not too heavy, fresh and quite enticing. As always, reminds me of Blaufränkisch.
The palate is somewhat different - light bodied but with quite present tannins and racy acidity. Not much substance though to fill that frame.
So it turns out quite ascetic I can imagine this working nicely with a hearty stew or pork sausages. Otherwise, this is just barely pleasant. Technically proper. Won’t be buying it again.
