Sipping Fine Wine

Situated just south of Volnay and Pommard in the Côte de Beaune, Meursault is the most extensive southerly white wine commune of the Côte-d'Or, with stingier soils. Complex aromas of fruit, floral and mineral notes, aged for 10 months in French oak. Stone fruit flavors, apple, peach and honey with hints of nuts and smoky tones. Lingering finish, great mouthfeel ending with earthy mineral notes. A Gem! Tasting Sample.

A gift. Bah. Way too oaky. Like pouring an entire shaker of pepper on a steak. Not a lot that says Meursault here. At least there's some acid?

I can't quite get a feel for this wine. I want to like it but I'm not sure. Maybe it's past it's prime. It is old, dating from 1995. The color is a dark, almost copper yellow. The nose smells of smoke. Yet is is smooth, not too overpowering and has an easy finish. There is a hint of metal...

Baguette and white flowers, butterscotch and vanilla. Like this a lot! Great value from Latour.

Medium yellow in color, fragrant with smell of apple and pear, crisp and rounded with a medium finish.

2010 vintage. Very intense on the nose—classic vanilla, french baguette, ripe sunflower seeds, olive. Earthy, pleasant acidity, good oak and smoke in taste. Very well-balanced and round wine. Love it!
