Corton-Charlemagne Chardonnay

My fave from this producer. Playing on another logical level.

Tasted blind. From magnum. Medium gold color, leesy nose. Notes of citrus, almond paste, mint, grapefruit and some ginger. Rich and glycerol in the mouth. Lots of acidity. We're all over the map on deciphering what this is. But we circle back to Burgundy and my guess is 89 Bonneau du Martray Corton Charlie. This wine tonight certainly benefited from aging in the magnum format... we're all amazed at the freshness and quality this 92 still had.

Tasted blind. From magnum. Dark gold. Notes of apricot, ginger, tan spice, lemon. Rich and powerful in the mouth. Has a quiet, fine grained acidity. Guessed 86 L Latour CC. Seemed darker and older than other bottles I’ve had of this recently (especially this being from magnum tonight).

Not the best vintage in Burgundy. However, when it’s not the best, trust in good producers and vineyard site.

This wine had excellent texture and mouthfeel, light creaminess, nice white citrus, some tropicals, beautiful in the mouth, amazing white flowers, nice acidity and elegant, beautiful finish. Just lacked the wow factor one hopes from this site.

Not quite what I expected. Good but nothing exceptional. Could use more time, but where is it going?

From magnum. Med gold, heavy in the glass. Vanilla, light citrus, orange peel, and white stone in the nose. Light but still present acidity. Good finish shows its structure.

This aged beauty is as old as me, but still shining bright through its golden color and quality. Initial notes of buttery popcorn transitioning to mild aromas of port wine. On the palate, a nice sweet and salty richness, resembling flavors of kettle corn. A calming acidity is present to balance everything out. This was a delightful bottle.

Magnum

My last bottle. Enjoyed this many times over the years . Now mature and on its downward slide . Rich and ripe with some apricot flavors lingering on the palate , purchased on release and cellared at 52'

Kinda tired already honestly.....one note wine at this point. Apple and citrus with not much fruit....acid sticks out. Was probably much better a few years ago but whatever
