Wow. 100 year vines barrel fermented and aged. Wonderful structure and complexity, this is quite young and needs a few years in the cellar, but will reward that patience in spades!

2011 vintage. A serious wine from the lower part of the famous Cote du Py, on les Javernieres exactly but from the oldest vines...some were planted in...1914 ( the youngest vines...25+ give birth to Les Javernieres cuvee). south east facing on deep, iron oxide rich soils, this is a serious, robust wine. Whole bunch fermented, an ink black colour, deep and richly scented. The palate is full, rich and tight. Youth, it opens up nicely overnight and reveal classic meaty, rusty notes. This is very promising and will develop nicely over the next 10 years. Beaujolais has more on offer than wines to pour down through the sink.

But…there it was. It sang it’s siren song.
N: Big , beefy, dirty red beet, musky black cherries. Smoke and tar.
P: Black cherries, blood, iron, earth, dirt,
It’s said the Coté du Py Gamay vines are 100 years +. It shows. A knockout structured Beaujolais that’s always a fave. Delicious, if I was 40, I’d make plans to stash some away for 20 years.
A bit saved, day two, blacker and more tannic.

The colour is deep for a Bojo. Nice Aromas of red fruits, some cherries in particular, floral hints. Nice acidity, on the medium plus bodied palate that shows some power with very generous fruit and a lengthy delicious finish. Not a typical light Gamay, much better. 89-90

Beaujolais #7 This is a bigger wine than the others. Blueberries, rust, cinnamon and earthy.
Dec 2nd, 201917.5/20 (93/100) Насыщенный, парфюмный аромат с нотами чёрных ягод и шоколада. Тельное с умеренной кислотностью, не слишком интенсивными танинами. Ягодно-шоколадное во вкусе. Экстрактивный стиль Моргона, но чудо как хорошо.
