I’ve had above average Rosés from Lobo Hills in previous vintages and like their style, flavor profiles and minerality. Apparently this is my first encounter with this one so what to say? In color, it’s pale orange, excellent clarity. Flavors of strawberry, raspberry and white pepper are on point for the variety, as noted on the back label, but I also get a dried tangerine peel which makes we wonder if there’s a little Grenache in there. Good acidity, a tasty wine with yes, a mineral finish and some skin astringency expressed as a mild tactile tongue coating, rather nice actually. Not easy to find but a good take on using Washington state fruit for making great rosés

Lobo Hills is a Pacific Northwest boutique winery producing great, small batch wines. This particular pre-dinner wine was aged on the lees and presents itself in a clear salmon pink that opens with aromas of cherries, white pepper and strawberries. The palate has a high acidity (good for food) with notes of cranberries, rose petals and cherries.

A Whole Foods pick-up, because Rosé-All Day in the summer. Lobo Hills is a small boutique winery based in Seattle that sources it's grapes from around the Pacific Northwest. Cabernet Franc is typically a blending grape, slightly lighter and more peppery than it's Sauvignon brethren (Cab Franc is actually the father line to Cab Sauv, the mother is Sauvignon Blanc), and typically found in Bordeaux style blends. The grape itself ripens earlier than Sauvignon and can be found more often grown in cooler climates. These grapes were sourced from the Yakima Valley in WA, the first WA AVA (designated in 1983), which is part of the larger Columbia Valley AVA. ~$16 | #lobohills #yakimavalley #cabernetfranc #roseallday

On the eyes: Star bright, clear, light salmon-peach color, med- stain, med- legs, no gas/floc.

On the nose: Rose, unripe strawberry, unripe plum, wet slate, and slightly peppery. Med- alcohol.

On the tongue: Med- tannin, med+ acid, med- alcohol, light body, dry. Rose hips and white flowers, white pepper and spice, with tart cranberry, mineralty, and acid on the way down yielding to dried cherries. (Would be a higher rating but for the high acidity....)

A little funky, little acidic....strawberry. Butter on the nose? Tasty.

Kind of a one-trick pony, but a nice surprise. Barnyard funk, cherry, and a nice salinity to it. Paired very well to a triple cream cheese. Not our usual style, but I'd get it again.

This is awesome! Not sure why it has such a low rating by fellow Delectable-ers but hey, to each their own I guess. Perfect remedy on a warm Washington Summer day. Sweet stone fruit and mineral driven nose. Ripe strawberries and watermelon, flinty and notable Cajun style spice! Fattest Rosé I've ever stumbled upon. Thought I couldn't be more surprised by a Rosé of Cab Franc but I was wrong. Happily wrong.

Ok - I was lured by the local Washington st wine and Cabernet franc; However, in the tradition of the SWS - my wine club - this wine was not so great - but I applaud the palace kitchen for taking a risk.
