Le Cinciole
Chianti Classico Sangiovese Blend
A bit more structured and serious than the median Chianti Classico. Nose takes a while to rev up but then shows bright ripe and slightly sour cherry, loads of minerality, and a fresh, almost floral note. Lean and vertical in the mouth, it’s got nice structure which the fruit is currently hiding behind. But you can tell that with a bit more time it will round out. Very nice.

Oct 19th, 2021Le Cinciole’s 2017 Chianti Classico is a huge overachiever. Dark red cherry, spice, new leather and sweet pipe tobacco infuse the 2017 with tremendous resonance and character, while soft, silky contours add to its immediacy and sheer appeal. Vinified in concrete and aged in cask. $25.00 (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, August 2020)

Aug 31st, 2020Nice Classico with some age. Stewed cherries, savory tomato and herbs, cocoa, and lots of iron-rich turned earth. Fruit-driven acidity and tannins in nice balance. Great length. Paired nicely with pepperoni pizza on night one and meat&veggie lasagna on night 2.

Nov 8th, 2018This kind of Sangiovese and my palate will always be good friends. Floral aromas. Crunchy red fruits- sour cherries on the entry in laser-like focus. Dried herbs fill out the mid palate. Subtle integration of oak. This is classic Chianti on a budget. Great lift and acidity. Delicate but firm structure. Outstanding food wine.
