Bourbon Barrel Aged California Cabernet Sauvignon

Bitch, I’m back!!! Finally got to buy wine after being furloughed for a month. Decided to go with a familiar winemaker although I’ve never had the bourbon barrel aged Cabernet Sauvignon. Wow, was i pleased. Before I let it aerate to develop the flavors a chalkiness rested on my tongue for the finish. After letting it open up, blackberry and black currant flavors hit me. This is a juicy teddy jam, but not sweet at all. I definitely tasted the oak barrel making it rich and deep. The finish coats your mouth like your favorite winter blanket. I think I found my Valentine!

Friday night, I was looking for something interesting and found this.
I’m noticing “Bourbon Barrel Aged” wines more often in past few years.
I did not know Layer Cake made one.
Ruby color with purple hue on rim.
Aromas and flavors of black cherry, blackberry, vanilla, pencil, chocolate and sweet caramel.
Like name says, It almost tastes like cake...like chocolate cherry cake with caramel sauce. It sounds sweet but dry.
and does have some tannins.
Definitely interesting!

Perfect with veal parmigiana and grilled ribeye.

Really good had with Rodney on OBX.

Decent

Acidic for a Cabernet Sauvignon. Taste of raspberry and cherry with an oak aftertaste.

Rich and complex due the bourbon barrel aging. Jammy with flavors of blackberry and vanilla.

Very smooth, on the sweeter side. No need to allow it to breathe

Bold, complex jammy flavors. Some berry and vanilla. Strong alcohol content won me over

Enjoyed.
