Medium brick red. Stinky nose that blows off with some air. More notes of earth, dried spices and cherries. Medium tannins (5.5/10) and light plus to medium. Solid acidity with notes of dried cherries, light herbs and dustiness. Medium length finish. Drink now.

This was so complex and enticing on the nose: telltale rubber, black pepper, plum, cassis, blackberry compote, toasted wood, vanilla. If only the palate were as wonderful! Savory notes developed over time and overwhelmed the fruit. More acid would balance the full, fleshy body. Eventually it was strong Puer tea (funky, bitter chinese digestive tea) and prime rib au jus.

Nice dark color. Pretty in the glass. Smells dense with licorice and berry. Flavors are berry flavoring (perhaps artificial) and that South African rubber stuff that Pinotage is famous for.
