Cool label. Vine drawing. Strange unknown Italian varietal. Dark as night in the glass. Can’t see through it. Lovely stewed fruits and molasses nose. Hint of wet rocks. Forest streams. Flavors are complex and complex. Some black pepper. Bit of black olive. Streak of perfect blackberry jelly. Tannins are balanced. Smooth, but full of dense flavors. This is a great big boy red that’s a joy to drink.

Smooth, rich, cherry notes. Needs a little breathing room after opening but delicious with steak kabobs & dark chocolate.

Tasted blind, I would have called this Bordeaux it has so much granite-y minerality. But the aroma of sun-ripened blueberries should have tipped me off to California. A finish just beyond medium--one of my favorite California cab francs (one of my favorite grapes!)
