Bolder than your average Grenache, pairs nicely with duck confit. — 9 years ago
Ok, after drinking refined cabs and fruity Zinfandels this merlot was a great change of pace. Fresh tobacco, dried cherries, smooth tannins and abundant toasted oak make this a great wine with red meat. Of course I'm having poblano meatballs with rich roasted tomato sauce. It's a great pairing--if you pardon my self aggrandizement. — 9 years ago
Somewhat smoky with abundant black fruit. Great with food. — 9 years ago
Light@berry flavor with light spice. Enjoyable pre dinner wine with aged Gouda and truffle cheddar. This is a@rating for the cab franc not the zin:-) — 9 years ago
Violet petals on the nose and palate. Pie crust at the back of the mouth with a not overly large finish. Deep dark color yet seems not so big when drinking it. Plenty of body, and as the glass opens brighter strawberry fruit appears. A very pleasant surprise and a delightful wine with lamb chops. — 9 years ago
Wonderful expression of refined Zinfandel. Sure, there's plenty of berries, but not jammy. There's plenty of spice, but not heat. There's a robust rosy nose, but with a minerality that Cuts through the floral perfume providing intrigue and bringing it back from being cloying. On the palate, there's a pleasant vanilla tobacco right at the front, with tart and sweet immediately following, like a raspberry sweetart(TM) got mixed with grandpas pipe weed😜. Trying this in the Reidel VinunXL tonight, and so far so good. Really fragrant of berries, especially the giant sweet California blackberries with black mission fig. The "sweetness" of the fruit is surprising in intensity and I know it's not sugar but it's really there in the sides of my tongue. The tannins are already pretty soft and supple and as it sits in the giant glass breathing it just gets better and better and the pie spices are showing up after about 15 minutes in the glass. Pairing with steak au poivre tonight, so the richness of the cognac sauce will complement the wine nicely. Really just LOVE this wine. Thank you David, Karen and Lara! — 9 years ago
