Black Cordon Vineyards
The Black Cordon Vineyard Estate Cabernet Sauvignon
Dark ruby red with a purplish core. Layered nose with dark mountain berries, purple floral notes and cinnamon. Moderate tannins (6.5/10) and medium bodied. Seems like it might need a little time to beef up. Complex palate with layers of red berries, floral notes, dark baking spices like cinnamon, vanilla and brown sugar. Dark gravel in the finish as well, long and lingering finish. Drink till 2026.

Mar 12th, 2017Trying this in the Reidel VinunXL tonight, and so far so good. Really fragrant of berries, especially the giant sweet California blackberries with black mission fig. The "sweetness" of the fruit is surprising in intensity and I know it's not sugar but it's really there in the sides of my tongue. The tannins are already pretty soft and supple and as it sits in the giant glass breathing it just gets better and better and the pie spices are showing up after about 15 minutes in the glass. Pairing with steak au poivre tonight, so the richness of the cognac sauce will complement the wine nicely. Really just LOVE this wine. Thank you David, Karen and Lara!
