My rating is the same as Mark’s but for a different reason. I love funky/savory style Syrahs (Cayuse especially), but this had zero of those notes on the nose...out of whack baked fig and liqueur like black cherries. However, the finish here reminded me of beef stew broth. Not iron/bloody, but definitely savory at the finish with added peppercorn. Seemed disjointed.

Dark cherries, smokey opulence and sandlewood. Awesome wine for the price.

Still a baby. Great balance with blue fruit and clove. Minute long finish. Great work Heidi!

This was one of "9" La Sirena Syrah's by Heidi Barrett we reviewed with the winemaker last night. The 2005 Barrett Vineyard Syrah - Calistoga. Vertical sets of 04, 05, 06 Soon to be available. They are delicious!

Great acid, gamey notes, bit of asphalt aromatics in there too

Still so alive. Black berry, black cherry, toasted marshmallow on nose, oaky. Still smoothing out tannins. Heidi's legacy here.

2018 vintage. 135 cases made. Barrett Vineyard on some little property known as Chateau Montelena. Last vintage of this was 2007. Rest has been blended elsewhere since. 14.8% and all French oak. Some punch/acidity with plenty of brooding body and a little performance fruit. Far from gratuitous. Very interesting given the pedigree, involvement and performance. 3.13.24.

What a refined well structured wine. Balanced with a wicked long lasting flavor on mid pallet.

Needs more funk. Missing everything I look for in a Syrah. Definitely taste like a high quality, well made wine, but overall not my cup of tea.
