Brief notes. Mid Ruby in colour. Dried fruit on nose and palate. Liquorice. Finishing in very Nebbiolo fashion with fine powdery dry tannins. Went well with homemade Pizza.

Case in point. Same vintner. Same vintage. Same varietal... Softer all around with licorice notes. Acidity at medium, medium plus tannins but not overwhelming.

Really enjoyed this. I did decant just to get the tannins a little smoother a little quicker. Smooth and balanced, no elbows. Great sipping and food wine. TBL

The 2016 Barbaresco Montestefano is simply magnificent. Bright floral overtones and red/purplish berry fruit give the Montestefano a feeling of focus and explosive energy that is compelling. Hints of mocha, leather, smoke, lavender and a whole range of balsamic inflections open up in the glass, revealing a Barbaresco of power, structure and complexity. Ample in feel and yet wonderfully vibrant, the Montestefano is wonderfully complete. It is also one of the very best wines I have ever tasted from La Ca' Nova. The Montestefano is a bit more showy today than the Montefico, but both wines are remarkable. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, November 2019)

Another success for Marco Rocca. He doesn’t look back and while magnificent stuff is bottled here already, his best days lies ahead. This is seamless stuff.

Color is startlingly advanced, but the wine is spot-on. Fragrant nose of sweet macerated cherries and floaty baking spices. Nice gravelly minerality notes underneath. Full flavored yet has a sense of balance. More on the savory side, with earthy dark cherry fruit taking a back seat to underbrush, minerals. Loads of soft tannin.!long finish. Very nicely done

Magnificent!!! Stunning purity and great mineral presence with acidity allowing flavors to really stretch beautifully on the elegant, youthfully tight yet rewarding finish. Secure it by the case, and drink thru 2030

It's still so vibrant and youthful! Haven't had this one in a whil while, and today it floored me. Family from ready, this supreme bottling will require another 3-5 years to fully blossom.

Such beautiful aromatics. Sour cherry, dried herbs, floral, and lovely mineral note. While showing the tight tannic structure, it's still so fresh. Drinking beautifully now, though has a long life ahead

Such an approachable and interesting young barbaresco - has a gamay like quality here - very little oak - can't stop wanting another taste
