Kutch Wines
Sonoma Coast Chardonnay
Kutch's 2015 Chardonnay (Sonoma Coast) is a very pretty wine that straddles the line between the more reductive style of the 2014 and lusher expression found in the 2016. Lemon peel, white flowers, chalk, mint and white pepper give the 2015 brightness, aromatic lift and tension. Insistent saline notes punctuate the driving finish. Most of the fruit is from Bohan, although about 10% of the grapes came from Trout Gulch, in the Santa Cruz Mountains. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, April 2018)

Apr 26th, 2018Richer fruit than the SCM chard from the previous year and with mouth puckering acidity, refreshing at 12.7%. This has a ton of depth and could benefit from a couple more years to settle in, just at the beginning of its drinking window.

Feb 17th, 2018My first Kutch. Needs time. Nose is gorgeous...wet stone, graphite, butterscotch. Palate is very different...fairly tart. Green apple, stone fruit, lemon sours. Could see this being very good in 3-5yrs.

Dec 22nd, 2017Lemon and mineral nose; more of same on the palate, but with the minerality chalky and the finish quite bright and a little saline. This skews cool climate.

Jun 3rd, 2019Surprising green-apple flavor and acidic crispness. This wine is oaked and made with malolactic fermentation, but it tastes more like an older style European unoaked wine. Excellent Chardonnay and truly enjoyable.

Dec 8th, 2018Delicious, complex. More French in style than Californian

Sep 15th, 2018This may be the most Burgundian CA Chardonnay I’ve ever had. Reminds me of 1er crus from Dauvissat and St-Aubins from PYCM (without the reduction), though perhaps a bit less body. Crystalline lemon-lime-mineral goodness 😍
