Spiced pear, nutty aromas. Near weightless on the palate finishing with bitter almond quality.

So easy to write off this formidable, yet tender giant because it needs at least three days’ aeration when young. And this one didn’t hit its stride until day 6, now exhibiting lemon zest, citrus oil, fleur de sel, subtle and persistent Alpine minerals and a palpable, electric energy. For me, this is the greatest Sylvaner in the world, along with Keller’s Feuervogel.

This Sylvaner is still youthful. Slate, brine, and citrus oil nose with honeysuckle, fennel, and lemon-lime zest flavors. Really a lovely wine. Day Two - the wine is even better with additional melon flavors.

Lemon oil, cider, autolyzed yeast, Alpine minerals. Oily texture, riveting and long. Better on day two.

Dealer's choice (M.S. Carlton Kirby) at Element 47. Like a Gruner and a Riesling. Good stuff from a very cool producer in northern Italy.

Layered texture with gentle acidity and round corners. Honeysuckle sweetness coats the tongue with touch of butterscotch that lingers on palate.
