This wine is so good, it should not be overlooked. Apparently, Kistler (Jason Kesner) produces this wine for restaurants. But that doesn’t mean us mere mortals can’t enjoy it at home. Some would consider this a mass-market proposition, but it’s anything but that. It possesses a transparency of an individual story, which is easy to read. There are no missing pages or chapters. This wine is well structured and prismatic in terms of its complexity, layers and minerality. Butterscotch, honey and calcium pierce the taste buds, and at a price I consider to be reasonable for such an outstanding product. Check out Kistler’s website. They hide nothing. It screams about very considered wine-making at its very best. Consider this for short-term cellaring only.

Catching up on some recent TNs. Bought off the Manta list at the Mauna Kea. Light and tight. Decent fruit and good acidity. Still a baby.

Vanilla, oak, toasted brioche, coconut macaroon. Lactic. Some sweet tropical fruit on the nose. Good acid and body, and a mineral twang. Meets and exceeds expectations for a classic, well-constructed oaked Cali chard... flirts with but isn’t overdone. Very enjoyable even if it may not speak all that much to soil or season.

A compelling chard with gobs of peach, pear and a nose of honeysuckle. Stops right before going over the top. Superb. Fresh.

2007. Very meursault Like. Caramel, hazelnut, butterscotch, tropical fruit, orange peel and nice acid. I’d say drink now if you still have any.

A simply luxurious, beautifully balanced, oaked, unfiltered Chard with incredible texture, length, and elegance. A California Corton-Charlemagne.
