Drank 4/3/21.

On the nose, violets and roses joint the red cherry scents after about a 30 min decant. Flavors of cherry pit and tar mix with wood spice and medium to firm tannins. The dry finish goes on around 40 seconds. A good introduction to barolo for the price.

Another high QPR Costco Barolo. On par with the 2015 in terms of quality. Currently could use a bit more time in bottle.

Let it breath and the wine gets better. More complexed on the second day.

Just sayin, the best Kirkland wine yet! Incredible balance, flavor and value. Reminds us of the best Produturri wines. Will buy more asap.

Had to try this especially at the $20 price point. As expected it’s not the same as the higher priced barolos but still very drinkable (more like a Nebbiolo or Chianti). It was kind of thin, berries on the nose and pallet. Just not as robust as I like to see from this grape. It would make a great table wine though

Good value entry level Barolo. 2016 was a great growing season. Has all the flavor profile you’d expect from a good Barolo but not the same depth as the great ones. Needs a few hours to air to soften the tannins and bring out the fruit/floral scent, cherry, leather, and earth on the palate. Lingering finish. More complexity than one would expect from a sub $20 Barolo.

Good wine, great value. Dark cherry, cedar, and toasted oak notes on the nose. I’ll give the bottle’s label “rose petal” note a nod, too. The cherry carries through on the palate, and there’s plenty of black currant, plum, and hints of licorice, vanilla, and black pepper. The KS team does a great job across categories, and this wine is no exception.
