Drank 4/7/22.

Very nice with lamb chops.

Almost Tuscan on the nose with bright red cherry, a touch of black licorice candy, roses, and earth. Flavors darker, with licorice , tar, and black cherry. Finishes with moderate tannin backed by black cherry.

Better than the precious vintage. Nice.

Drank 4/3/21.

On the nose, violets and roses joint the red cherry scents after about a 30 min decant. Flavors of cherry pit and tar mix with wood spice and medium to firm tannins. The dry finish goes on around 40 seconds. A good introduction to barolo for the price.

Another high QPR Costco Barolo. On par with the 2015 in terms of quality. Currently could use a bit more time in bottle.

I saw this at my local Costco for $19.99 and was too curious to pass it up. I mean, a Barolo from Serralunga d’Alba for under twenty bucks? Shut the front door! Dark berries, figs, roses and tar on the nose. Smells like Barolo. Tart, dark fruits and herbs on the palate. Medium body. An almost saline like quality to it. Fierce tannins. Loads of structure. Long, saliva inducing finish. Tastes like a Barolo. This bottle held up well over three days. Really, this is killer value. Unsure of who produces this but my hunch is Fontanafredda but only because of the picture of Villa Reale on the label. Regardless, this is great QPR.

Let it breath and the wine gets better. More complexed on the second day.

Just sayin, the best Kirkland wine yet! Incredible balance, flavor and value. Reminds us of the best Produturri wines. Will buy more asap.

Nose has grilled cherry, slightly ripe blackberry, distant baking spice and warm cedar plank.

Palate has fresh/dry cherry combo, licorice, white pepper and dried black currant. Drying finish with medium tannins, decanted 2h.

Solid wine for $19.89 at my local Costco. Bought to try out, likely will benefit from a couple more years of aging.

I would be interested in trying the 2016 vintage, it should be a stronger wine. 2015 is going to be a solid cooking wine IMHO, stock up.

Red fruit in the nose with red cherries, raspberries and anise in the palate. Dark cherries and blackberries in the finish. Lots is tannins even on the 3rd day. Definitely a wine that needs food to fully appreciate.

Open at least 2 hours previously. Garnet red color, floral scent. Bit of tannin, quite acid taste, full body. Medium finish of sour and bitterness. Well match with spicy food, beef and seafood. One day after opening, gone a bit of spicy taste, and more complex scent and taste.
