I have a soft spot for Washington State Grenache. This has got great raspberry fruit and smoky minerality. It’s a bit leaner and more savory in the mouth than the nose suggest, but that’s a feature, not a bug. A little pepper on the finish, but that may be because it’s a little warmer outside today than I expected for this cookout

54% Upland Vyd Grenache, 38% Boushey Vyd Mourvèdre, 8% Blue Mtn Vyd Syrah, Block 8. Unfined, unfiltered, 312 cases made. Weed, herb, raspberry and black current notes in nose with a hint of mint/eucalyptus. Raspberry, cherry and cassis in mouth, mild seed bitterness in finish . Not much in the way of tannins buts lots of varietal character

This reminds me of southern France gsm. Needs an hour of air. Dark berries, eucalyptus, some cocoa, vanilla, and a tart strawberry finish. Very good. I’m guessing this will be better in a few years.

@Delectable Wine- this is the 2013 Majestic Grenache from Kerloo cellars. This has a 22% Mourvedre addition & is my favorite showing of this that I've had. Balanced, red fruited & deep. Kerloo is a producer to watch.
