Isosceles Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon Blend
Vanilla bean and mocha come together with hints of kirsch and a peppery Cabernet Sauvignon flourish as the 2019 Isosceles forms up in the glass. This is pure elegance, velvety smooth yet energetic, with depths of ripe red and blue fruit that coast across the palate with ease. The Isosceles excels through its acidity, as the mouth waters throughout the long and dramatic finish. Gingery spices and hints of sweet blueberry preserves linger on. Well done. This is a blend of 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Cabernet Franc and 10% Merlot. (Eric Guido, Vinous, July 2024)

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a couple of hours. The 2019 “Isosceles” pours a deep ruby color with a near opaque core; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of dark brambles, crème de cassis, tobacco, Fresno chilis, Mexican chocolate, dry earth and baking spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium. This is a big, powerful wine but it’s fairly balanced. I would drink now though it probably wouldn’t struggle to see past 2029.

Oct 28th, 2023The 2018 Isosceles is youthfully understated yet darkly alluring, with black cherry and spiced citrus nuances lifting from the glass. This washes across the palate with ease, cool-toned and with a pure mix of red and black fruits. It finishes with admirable length while maintaining an energetic feel. Blackberry hints slowly fade. (Eric Guido, Vinous, May 2023)

May 18th, 2023This disappointed. It’s been years since I’ve had Isosceles and my memories are all positive. This is pedestrian.

Sep 3rd, 2019Exceptional! This was a half bottle vintage 2011 and I think it was the perfect age. Half bottles age quicker, so I would give a normal sized bottle about 10 years from vintage. Busting with wonderful fruit and mellow oak. Happy new year!

Jan 1st, 2019Was expecting a bigger fruit bomb - the dark fruits are accounted for.. dark plum, smashed berry. Cocoa powder, fresh black pepper & salinity. Better than expected.
