Justin Vineyards & Winery
Central Coast Sauvignon Blanc
Should have enjoyed a little earlier…light minerality, lime rind, and honeydew.

Feb 16th, 2023Kind of unremarkable. I liked previous vintages better. A bit too oaky for me.

May 1st, 2022Tones of bright green lemongrass with mild citrus. Touch of floral aromas with bright acidity.

Sep 5th, 2021Justin & Deborah Baldwin acquired their land in 1981, planted 72 acres that year. Initially they were wine growers, then in 1987, they harvested their first grapes bottled under the Justin label. Pale lemon with tropical fruits, grassy citrus and floral scents. On the palate peach, tangy lemon citrus and melon flavors with gentle acidity. Medium+ finish ending with bright herb mineral character.

Dec 12th, 2020Crisper and drier than previous vintages. Very nice trend.

Sep 2nd, 2019Pleasant Sauvignon Blanc. I would still want it to be drier, but it’s good enough for a poolside lunch - and exquisite with line caught bluefin tuna sashimi. Life is pretty good. Revisited 3/30/18 and upped to 89.

Sep 23rd, 2018Pale yellow and clear. Straw and herbs on nose. Grapefruit, lemon, nectarine, Crenshaw melon and creamy viscousness (lees contact?) in mouth, moderate skin astringency on finish. Nice flavors, free run/pressing a tad rough given skin tannins.

Mar 14th, 2018Ending the year on a high note with a Wednesday Wine Committee appearance. As always, wines are tasted blind. This week, there was 1 sparkler, 3 whites, 2 reds and 1 dessert.
I really tried to put this outside the US, but ultimately guessed west coast SB. Lots of citrus/tart notes, but lower acidity than my favorite SBs. Not much stone fruit and graphite. Definitely meant to be enjoyed young.
