Matthew's Station Vineyard Russian River Valley Tannat

If this isn’t the beat new world tannat, I don’t know what is.

What the what? Not sure what it says about Tannat, but it's big boned, full of fruit and tannin and just a little bit hot. Enjoyable, but non specific

A nice dense, juicy and fruit-forward wine but I think the varietal gets a little "lost" in the 15.8% alc.

Nice, quaffable and juicy on the attack but finishes a bit hot and disjointed. Aromatics are almost like an over-extracted Pinot.

For a more true varietal portray of domestic Tannat I would recommend the wines from Y. Rousseau.

Excellent, if esoteric, start to the weekend.

Opened this tonight

Black fruit seeming very rich on the nose but coming off less rich in the palate than I expected. Tasty and balanced. I don't drink a lot of tannat to compare it to, but a very enjoyable wine.
