Joseph Phelps Vineyards
Insignia Estate Grown Napa Valley Red Wine

Tannins have settled down. Still super jammy. Oak still a major presence. Hot finish. PV plays an oversized roll. Could easily age another 10.

2023 vintage. Stuffing. Fruit. Richness. Needs a mandatory 20-spot in maximum security. Sure, you can enjoy it now but you’ll be missing out on what makes this wine special. Not the biggest Insignia fan but the two-decade+ ones consistently deliver magic, regardless of the vintage. 8.19.26.

Omfgggg. Absolutely vibrant and beautiful. Almost all Cabernet with just a touch of Petit Verdot unlike many other years that are more of a Bordeaux blend. The fruit is perfect with incredibly soft tannins and a long finish.

Drank right after the Delas Lala. Oak presence much more notable here. Some heat. Felt a bit out of balance vs the Syrah.

At 11 years of age, this wine is in fine form. 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, a bit of Petit Verdot, a smidgen of Cabernet Franc, and a dash of Malbec. Such a great balance of fruit and secondary flavors. Blackberry, plum, cherry, mocha, cedar, a little tobacco. Super nice, polished finish. A great Saturday night treat.
