Grist Vineyard Zinfandel
This wine reflects a conscious effort to buck the unfortunate trend of too ripe, too alcoholic, too jammy Zins. It’s got a lively, nose of pomegranate and barely ripe blackberry, some spice, and a bit of crushed rock minerality. In the mouth it’s lean and bone dry, with black cherry fruit and lots of stony minerals. Great acids and a framework of fine-grained, chalky tannin. While I love this effort, ideally I’d like just a teensy bit more ripeness to allow the Zinfandel spicy blackberry/black raspberry fruit to shine and a tad more density.

Mar 21st, 2023Quite a well balanced zin. Varietally correct but just toned down a little bit from all those 16% abv wines. Very nice fruit, well structured, even has a bit of tannin. Well made

Nov 20th, 2015Very nice Zin. Just the right amount of fruit, tannins and kick of black pepper on the back end. Dig it!

Nov 23rd, 2014Pleasantly balanced #zinfandel. More subtle than expected bramble fruit nose. Beautifully restrained Zin on palate - succulent acidity, some vanilla, toasty oak notes, characteristic spice on the finish.

Jan 22nd, 2023Very nice, but had even higher expectations, perhaps unfairly. 2016 vintage
