Grands-Echezeaux Grand Cru Pinot Noir

You better drink this wine vintage if you have it - while opening it was very fresh and went down like water in the desert / tannins were so refined with exceptional length but at the end this amazing wine was was shutting down - I like it when the opposite is the case were the wine is brilliantly open reflecting subtle and evolving nuisances and creating interesting complexities - so an amazing burg at first but went bizarrely meek

Magnum quite exceptional very expressive and vibrant still .

There was some heat on the nose and palate as well as showing some Sta. Rita Hills fruit characteristics. Structure was lacking but it is still quite wound up with good complexity and length. In 10 years this will kick ass. Hints of its potential were on display after it decanted for an hour.

Heavy structure for 2000. Big abv, tannin, and acidity. Almost like a rhone on the nose with roasted fruit, anise, chocolate and above statement. Back and mid palate were very dry though. #grandesechezeaux #josephdrouhin #burgundy

Not green like other 04's a bit unexpectedly fleshy actually

Tasty, but open knit and surprisingly mature to me.

1995. Pretty tired. Nice tannins, interesting secondary aromas.

Savory and that ole burgundy funk!
