Textbook Chambertin. Sous bois and red-fruited nose. At once powerful and weightless. Just hitting entering what is sure to be a long drinking window.

A delicious wine that was both seductive and powerful without over powering our flavor buds. Was way better than what I expected.

#1988 #drouhin #chambertin at #chezpanisse #1stweddinganniversary. #grandcru... 9.5 + for the experience. This wine was a beast. Showing beautifully / just hitting its window, this kept opening more over the entire dinner. Almost all secondary on the first whiff- gradually flaunting red and black fruits, Santa Rosa plum, glazed donuts, black truffles, cardamom, and allspice ;) #wordscantdescribe

Not sure but I believe '96 was a warmer vintage. Fruit was a little tired and acidity was low. But when drinking Grand Cru Burgundy it's always special occasion.

Just lovely. Classic GV Grand Cru. Light plum notes, but fruit is perfectly aligned with acid here.

Funky earthy and metallic nose i.e. a little weird. Good fruit & concentration on the palate.
