Founded 1972, Tom & Sally Jordan, from CO, went to CA’s wine country & produced inaugural vintage in 1976. A Fav of mine with a steak, and the ‘14 is big! Had the ‘14 over a year ago, it’s Wow Now! Blend of 79% Cab Sauv, 13.7% Merlot, 5.8% Petit Verdot, 1.2% Malbec & 0.3% Cab Franc. Deep Ruby red with aromas of red fruit & perfume spice. On the palate flavors of ripe cherry & blackberry with oak, sweet spice, leather & cacao notes. Rich tannins, well balanced and integrated with fruit & oak. Very Nice!

A gift from a friend, this wine was surprisingly nice. On night 1 it was simple and quaffable. But in night 2 it got more detailed, with olive and cassis, along with cigar box on the nose. In the mouth it’s showing slightly herby, olivey red fruit. Nice balance, with medium body. A good solid weekday dinner wine.

Looked clear in the glass but even an inch obscures fingers under the bowl. Leather and tobacco. First, cherries on the palate, then green pepper after 20 minutes, then that fades away. A very nice blend of red berry fruit with wood components of leather, vanilla, and a gentle tannic structure.

Clear, pure medium ruby in the glass. Refined elegance in a bottle. There’s just something about being a standard bearer year in and year out. Consistency is a big part of that and Jordan is nothing if not consistently excellent. Up front, there’s expressive black fruit on the nose and it’s joined by tea, oak, and dry earth. Beautifully balanced acidity and velvety in the mouth. And of course, that Alexander Valley fruit. It’s distinctly not Napa but it’s always so good. Cranberry, cherries, and cigars on the palate. There’s more understated oak and even a touch of citrus. This is still just a wee baby but so approachable now, but you just know it has so many more years to go. Every time I open a Jordan, in that moment, I feel as if it can’t get any better.
