Tierra Santa Ynez Valley Sangiovese
Dark ruby violet with aromas of cherry, tomato, tobacco, and herbs. Full bodied on the palate with big fruit and a savory quality all framed by prominent but mature tannins. Made from 100% Sangiovese aged in large format French oak barrels which were 25% new. 14.2% alcohol.

May 15th, 2018This wine has a medium ruby hue (trending deep in color) with robust and layered aromas and flavors that include strawberry sauce (think fruit-on-the-bottom yogurt), raspberry coulis, tart cherry, rose water, tomato leaf, mint, black licorice, anise, vanilla, and pipe tobacco.
On the palate, it’s dry, with medium (+) acidity, a medium body, medium alcohol (13%) and medium fine grained, soft tannins.
It’s a delicious and versatile wine. And fun to taste a California expression of Sangiovese outside of its homeland in Italy!

Jan 24th, 2021Tasted like a super Tuscan. A lot of tannins but some great fruit and silky texture.

Oct 30th, 2017Quite good. More savory than I was expecting. Overall a more serious wine than the price would lead you to believe. Bravo Señor Dees.

Jan 15th, 2017Sandy elegance in a bottle. Matt Dees nailed this one perfect Sangiovese from the California?? I say yes.

Jan 12th, 2017If you love Brunellos, you will love this one. Good level of tannins, but not too much. I would call it full-bodied. Good aroma - a little earth (barnyard?) to it. Overall, a very good wine. I've had a lot of $60-80 Brunellos and this can compete with all of them. Sorry "pros", but I think you undervalued this one. Just saying. Unless you know more about Sangiovese than I do, which you probably do. BTW Delectable has been hounding me for ratings so here you go! Enjoy!

Nov 29th, 2016Nice. Like it. Full. High alcohol. Legs on the glass pronounced. Lacking in something, not sure what. Lacks depth. I'm just going to leave it like that. But still I liked it.
