“It’s spring and the little goat-footed balloonMan whistles far and wee.” - ee cummings. Far and wee indeed, with crisp saline citrus brightness mellowing with age (this is 2018 vintage). This ain’t your mama’s Muscadet, but Melon de Bourgogne it is, indeed and quite ready to embrace your oysters if you care to share. But there’s also some luxurious lemon curd coming into play here that pleases the balloonMan.

Let it come to room temp and watch it blossom.

lemon, lime, oyster shell, floral notes; bone dry, Muscadet-style, mouthwatering acidity, only 11.8% ABV; sourced from Rodnick Farm formerly known as Antle Vineyard, 1800 feet elevation, moderate coastal influence, decomposed granite and limestone soils; whole cluster pressed, spontaneous fermentation in concrete egg, aged on the lees 6 months; $27

I don’t know why there’s not more Melon de Bourgogne in the world. Citrusy, refreshing and delicious!

Bone dry, mineral and steely. Reminds me of muscadet.

Nice melon de bougogne. Tasty but not all that interesting. Juicy, round. Bought at Crocodile Wine in Asheville. Drank with moules frites. Hope to try more Jolie-Laide wines.

Needs to be drunk much warmer than most whites. As it warms can develop some quince notes and a nice acidity—even a little salinity. But drinking too cold (regular white temp) is like throwing a curtain over it—almost bland and pedestrian.

Magnificent. Tastes like flowers blooming near the sea. Would like to have with oysters. Great acidity. Definitely needs some air and is better at cellar temp.
