John Anthony Vineyards
Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Time for a nice Cabernet for my #FridayCabernetfix.
This is a delicious Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley. Rich and extracted.
Full bodied and bold with medium acidity.
Dry and very fruity on the palate, with nice complexity and mouthfeel.
Showing black fruits with chocolate notes, tobacco, vanilla, black licorice, cedar, leather, earth, turmeric, dark coffee, spices and peppercorn.
Long finish with fine grained tannins and cherries.
This 2014 vintage was great, and it is showing. Drinking very nicely now, and a great sipping wine. Loved the nose once it opened up.
Needs a couple of hours to open up properly and show the complexity, but after 4 hours it is really singing with a gorgeous nose. I would suggest being patient.
Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years.
I paired it with a Charcuterie board of meats, cheeses and dried fruits.
100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes were aged for 24 months in French Oak barrels. A small production of only 321 cases.
15.4% alcohol by volume.
93 points.
$70.

This is a great QPR cab I found recently at $52. Double decanted and poured...Upfront you catch a whiff of cherry and tobacco. Taste of luscious cassis & berry followed by mellow oak. Slightly acidic & tangy. The structure is there. A unique and well made Cabernet. Great weekend or dinner find!
