Aug 25th, 2018Simple and fresh, with red berry fruit, bubblegum, and some stem. The greenness is more pronounced on the palate with a slightly unusual vegetal/herbal note at the back end. Not as much acid as Iβd like, but the finish is pretty substantial for a villages bottling.

Apr 19th, 2018Quite simple with raspberry jam dominating the show. Maybe a touch of secondary fermentation? I sensed the slightest prick of effervescence.

Apr 8th, 2018Bright magenta. High-pitched red fruit and lavender aromas show excellent clarity and pick up a mineral nuance as the wine stretches out. Juicy and precise on the palate, offering intense raspberry, bitter cherry and spicecake flavors that deepen slowly on the back half. In a vibrant style, with no excess fat and a very long, smooth finish that echoes the red fruit note. (Josh Raynolds, Vinous, March 2018)

Mar 21st, 2018Foillard always delivers superior quality, and this is a relatively good bargain. Solid fruit, charming and approachable. Also a surprisingly simple wine at this price, lacking acidity. I would recommend that my customers stick to cru level Beaujolais selections that offer more complexity, brightness and overall character at the same price point or lower. Solid entry level wine.
