The vintage for white burgundy has really focused up since release, far more incisive, balanced and better showcasing terroir. Such is the case for 15 Ruchottes, one of the best plots in Chassagne, often of Grand Cru quality. It’s still showing young, but plenty giving, immensely concentrated, ample and rich with all the Ramonet goodies- white orchard fruit, white flowers, vanilla bean, macadamia nut and the signature spearmint freshness. A spine of racy acids and layered minerality provides the perfect balance to its richness. Beautiful wine, with (seemingly) many years to go.

Apr 13th, 2024Unsurprisingly 2014 and 2017 are two of my absolute favorite recent vintages from Ramonet and 17 is simply stunning tonight, rich, powerful, yet focused and incisive wafting from the glass showing all the signatures, rich and defined orchard fruit, spearmint, toasted almond and white flowers. The palate is expansive with immense concentration, a satiny texture and chiseled minerality. A simply complete white burgundy and one of Grand Cru quality. Amazing wine.

Jan 19th, 2024Continuing to dip into 2016 white burg at the top level and continuing to be pleased. Surely one of the most coveted and iconic Ramonet plots, albeit young, 2016 Ruchottes is very impressive tonight, proving the frost laden growing season is becoming a year of terroir over vintage. At first perhaps eerily opulent, it continues to focus with air and flaunts an explosive bouquet of stone fruit, citrus oils, wet stones, white flowers and toasty oak with Ramonet spearmint that comes in after some aeration. The palate is expansive, dense and concentrated with an elegant texture and just enough citrusy acids to support its imposing richness. If I were to nitpick I’d like more length but this is a great bottle.
