J. Lohr
Arroyo Vista Vineyard Chardonnay
The J. Lohr people call this wine their “Ode to Burgundy.,” but I feel that this wine wants to be noticed. The pretty yellow juice offers up a nose of Meyer lemons, peaches and nectarines with a healthy dollop of oak present. The bouquet also contains a bit of vanilla and butter. The palate is loaded with oak effect, but the citrus and stone fruit still poke through. Acidity is refreshing, if just a tad flabby. It is an enjoyable wine, particularly if you have a fondness for the old Cali style of Chardonnay.

Apr 29th, 2023So down for an Arroyo Seco Chard. Really good balance of malo/oak luxury and pear/spice/gentle creams ends in lightly buttered caramel corn.

Apr 2nd, 2023A little lacking.. Goes well with food, but it is so soft that if the food is too bright or flavorful, it is overcome and has no taste. White pear, butterscotch and vanillin spices to the finish. Can't say I'd really prefer this but it is crowd friendly and easy to drink. I will say congrats to Mr Lohr for his lifetime achievement award from Wine Enthusiast, he does deserve it.

Jan 23rd, 2017If one likes a toasted oak Chardonnay, this is your wine. Long lingering taste of oak, with stone fruits. Paired well with fish and chicken. Drank in August 2021.

Dec 4th, 2023Great wine, reminds Burgundy. Well balanced with minor sweet note. My first from Arroyo Seco. Recommended.
