Citrus and apple. Lemon custard? Creamy for sure. Quite a pretty wine for a carneros. Less brutish than most. 2021

Great wine. Nice acidity but with creamy undertones. Not a wine for the ‘professionals’ as it doesn’t fit their oaky template. Just a wonderful wine with food. 2013.

14' HDV Comandante Hyde Vineyard.
Planted in 1979 . This is the last of the original planting. Not even 1 acre left of this original planting.
Close to a PnP - A short decanting is still recommend.
Pale yellow in color.
Palate- Peach, baked apple pie, honeysuckle, orange blossom , splash of spice(dissipates completely after 30 minutes) medium acidity. Modest amount of oak. Finishing with a plethora of tropical fruits, acid, minerality. Polished & layered finish! Damn good bottle.

Well-made Chardonnay. Drink /6-8 years in it.

14’ HDV Comandante Chardonnay. I’ve written about this several times. Getting better each time I open one.

I opened a 2007 HdV Commandate Chardonnay in preparation for this beast of a Hurricane which is coming our way. My granddaughter is fully equipped and prepared!!!! Lol!! She was crawling towards the bottle as I was taking my pic!!!! HdV's flagship Chardonnay is amazing with some age on it. I uncorked a recent vintage (2013) the other day and it was lackluster in comparison to this masterpiece. Truly incredible how a little time transformed this beauty.
