Henri Prudhon & Fils
Bourgogne Aligote
Over 37 vintages of tasting Prudhon’s wines, I cannot recall one single bottle that didn’t over-deliver or represent anything other than massive value. This may be the most underrated estate in Burgundy, and this Aligoté is Exhibit 1 in my argument: sea salty, mineral, Meyer lemon and palpable electricity. Forget the grape variety: this is simply extraordinary white wine. Unfined, unfiltered, already throwing tartrates...so the mouthfeel and complexity suggest a decant and aeration. Aligoté can’t be any better than this.

Aug 22nd, 2022Color: Slightly cloud pale yellow. Mostly clear with some "wine diamonds" at the bottom.
Aroma: fruity, like white grape juice. Some apricot. Sweet scent, smells like yummy cool crip grape juice.
Taste: first taste like grape juice. Fruity and refreshing. Very light on the tongue. Its there and then smoothly gone. Faint, light apricot taste gently appears. Not a sweet wine, very light and fruity and fresh. Very subtle tartness. There's also a super subtle floral notes, maybe like elderflower but not quite. You have to kinda find it.
Super light, crisp, refreshing with lovely fruity notes of white grape juice and hints of apricot. It's smooth and easy drinking. It's in your mouth and then its gone. A lovely light body wine.
It's something for a summer day or evening sampling snacks or with a light pasta. Or something I could see being had with cheese fondue.
