Heitz Cellar
California Pinot Noir
California, USA
No one got close with this one. Light and focused. Bright cherry. All resolved. Pretty.

Nov 16th, 2022Easily the most monumental Pinot I've had from California. Made by Brad Webb at Hanzell and bottled by Joe Heitz (note the 'perfected by' on the label) this wine was still insanely fresh and dense and barely bricking around the rim. This was almost the wotn on a night that included 1928 pommard epenots and 59 roumier bonnes mares.

Feb 1st, 2017Believe it or not, after 52 years, this was still very drinkable. Much of the fruit was gone but still had good (somewhat muted) flavors. And, it was a low fill bottle. Impressive...
