Heinrich
Burgenland Blaufränkisch
Vintage 2013 / tasted blind/ I thought of pinot noir, because the smell was rather shy with some red fruit. High acidity.

Oct 6th, 2018Quite tasty. Underripe plum, prune, general red fruit, vibrant acidity, integrated tannin. Great food wine, quite well made.

Nov 7th, 2017Blaufränkisch er'day, all day. Gernot Heinrich has *so* evolved as a winemaker, and to live through the most exciting transitions and rebirths of Austrian wine is pretty damn special thing.

Dark ruby in color with a reddish rim.
Nice fruity nose with black currants, cherries, candy, earth, flowers, leather, raspberries, forest floor, smoke, green pepper, peppercorn and licorice.
Medium plus in body and soft, with medium plus acidity and nice legs.
Sour and dry on the palate with blueberries, cherries, licorice, tar, earth, light vanilla, red candy, licorice, light oak, forest floor, black pepper and smoke.
Medium finish with soft tannins and tart raspberries.
This is a nice everyday red from Austria. A good food wine, without too much complexity. Not fully balanced, but drinking nicely now.
Fermented in oak vats, and matured in large Austrian and French Oak barrels for 13 months.
I paired it with hard and soft cheeses.
12.5% alcohol by volume.

Lovely nose- touch herbal, blackberry, very fruit forward. A bit of bacon on the palate.
