Showing very nice at 8 years old. The fruit is still fresh but not overwhelming, the earth notes of Hanzell's terroir is just beginning to sing and the oak has given the wine a nice lingering sweet spice finish.

Delightfully made and beautifully long. A great combo of bright dark fruit and savory earthiness. Perfect match for our broiled salmon and sautéed mushrooms.

2006 is a little long to wait, but Hanzell produces some of the finest Sonoma Valley Pinots. This one shows cooked rhubarb and brandied cherry. Has surprisingly bright acidity for its age and perfume on the nose.

Initial aromas showed age but this settled into a more youthful posture. Not exuberant but certainly not mature. Elegant, restrained, with depth and structure. A few years more before it peaks.
