Hall Wines
Eighteen Seventy-Three Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
A blend of 99% Cabernet Sauvignon & 1% Petit Verdot, aged 24 Months in 70% New French Oak, grapes sourced from eastern side of Napa, on Vaca Range where Hall has vines. In 1873 Captain William Peterson came to Napa and established a winery on Hall’s property, and this winery and site became important for Napa, producing 40% of its entire vintage from that 1 site. Deep Ruby, medium+ aroma intensity of dark berry fruits and aromatic spice. On the palate flavors of ripe blackberry and black cherry fruit, black pepper and cinnamon spice. Chewy structured firm tannins, good integration with lively acidity, great mouthfeel, long finish ending with fruit, spice and bits of minerality. Tasting Sample!

Nov 21st, 2019One of the Christmas wines enjoyed yesterday. I’ve had many Hall wines, but never this, and I will certainly make it a point to keep my eyes out for this. One of the best Hall wines I’ve had in a while.
Blind, I would have guessed this was Syrah. There was a significant amount of smoked meat, teriyaki coated blackberries, and roasted plum on the nose. The palate showed hoisin sauce, cassis, tobacco leaf and savory spices with a blackberry/blueberry pie finish. Less fruit here than other Hall wines, but the savory components really stood out in a good way.

Homemade pizza goes well with this, but it loses its spice after a while. Will let one age to compare.

Feb 28th, 2021Very dark ruby color. Lots of blackberry and hints of cherry. Almost doesn’t taste like a Cab at first sip. Some nice spice and earth in the middle. Finishes smooth.

May 16th, 2020Definitely a treat. The high alcohol shows itself in this wine, but the flavors showcased are fantastic. Definitely more of a savory profile with the fruit mostly coming through as dark plum.

Mar 24th, 2019Imagine a wine that stands alone with its own palate! This is it!! This is as good as any Hall wine Ive ever had. Big velvety rich palate with dark berries on the beginning followed by lavendar and oak. It is pretty dry on the finish. No real spice. There is chocolate and vanilla. There is also a wonderful bouquet of blueberry pie! Yum yum yum!!!!! I must have another sip!!
