I didn't like it at first. But after I had a few chocolate chip cookies this paired fabulously. Fabulous! Requires chocolate.

Nice wine. A bit more jammy than I usually like, with plenty of vanilla, but it complemented our steak and chimichurri meal well.

Made from Monterey County fruit according to the website, barrel-fermented and aged in French Oak (60% new). Rather attractive nose of black cherries, cassis and slightly dominating oak. Juicy black fruits in the mouth with obvious but well-integrated oak. Good California value at about 20 euro. At first it seemed a little too oaky, but it evolves well in the glass so take your time or decant.

Half bottle on Amtrak Cascades. Sharp, but flavorful red. Berries and plum and black pepper.

A nice bold and rich Cab Sav - ripe red fruit, jammy and a sharp finish.

Surprisingly good wine on Amtrak. Well worth it if you have to pay and a bargain if it’s included in your meal on some trains. Rich, dark fruit, very full in the mouth and smooth as silk.
