Hacienda Monasterio
Ribera del Duero Tempranillo Blend
Lots of structure. Jose Andres thought it was good enough, and I think it’s great. Big wow.

Aug 9th, 2023Paired with British style meat pies and a sharply dressed green salad for a birthday dinner.
Poured a rusty toby, but gained cookie with air to a deep purple.
Nose is savory/meaty, all the fruit is bramble fruit; blackberry, black raspberry. The finish is very long, energetic, savory, mineral and still does those sharpish/mineral aspect a couple of minutes later. Concentration is off the charts.

This needed a nice fatty ribeye on day 1. Day 4 just rounding itself to soft yet balanced.

Jan 15th, 2019Welcome to the first weekend of 2019, Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a great ending to 2018 and your start to 2019 is just as good I have opened the 2012 Hacienda Monasterio Ribera del Duero. The blend on this wine is 80% Tinto Fino/Tempranillo, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot.
The nose to this wine is very expressive and aromatic with notes.of plum, blackberry, cherry, black currant, leather and a minerality.
The palate is very juicy and fruity with notes of blackberry, black plum, black cherry, black currant, licorice and earthy.
This wine full bodied and smooth with medium + acidity and medium + dry gripping tannins that follows with a long fruity driven finish. If you like those big bold fruity wines that are well made then this wine is for you. I wish everyone a prosperous and exciting 2019 with lots of wine and happiness. Please have a safe new year. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Concentrated dark fruit aromas, roasted meats, smoked red peppers, with creamy vanilla. Great smooth texture, fresh fruit, and chewy tannins on the moderate peppery finish.

Deep vivid red with berry fruits and light whiffs of earthy mineral aromas. On the palate fresh blueberry, cherry and plum flavors with silky smooth tannins with slight hints of light spice. The finish lingers ending with some oak and smoke tones. Drinks very well now!
