Vintage 2016 / we all recognise that it is sometimes a sidedish of a sauce that determines what to drink. For me it was a spicy quinces chutney that made I chose gewurztraminer, fresh, lychees in smell, wel balanced taste. / Paired with meatballs and quinces chutney, Munstercheese afterwards Wednesday Meatballsday (10)

Vintage 2016 / Reliable producer makes a crisp and fine Gewürztraminer. Lychees in smell and taste. Sweet touch that makes the taste lively. @Willem Jan Withagen showed me to drink and appreciate more Gewürztraminer. Paired this with melon and ham, zucchini, shrimps in homemade tomatosauce and blue d’auvergne. All went well.

2014 Gustav Lorentz Gewurtztraminer. Starbright, golden color. Apricot, lychee fruit, rose petal, white pepper, stone. Off-dry, crisp, short finish. Love it!

Not alsace's greatest gewurtz. But not its worst either. It's serviceable and varietal, but still overpriced at 25 retail. Also, according to the back label this wine is 6/10 in the sweetness scale, "semi sweet." It isn't. The rs is in fact pleasantly and surprisingly low hovering more at 2, maybe 3.

Under-ripened Bosc pear--brown skin included, off-sweet elderflower. Smells a bit like perfume and a bit like a freshly opened can of tennis balls (re: Somm). Also sensing they mixed some San Pellegrino into this, you know?

Slightly sweet. Honey suckle. Floral nose. Low acid. Not bad with pork pie from Alsace and water cress soup!

Served chilled to a pale gold hue with pronounced primary aromas of blossom, jasmine, peach, apricot, lychee, passionfruit; secondary aromas of vanilla and coconut and tertiary ginger aromas. The mouthfeel on this wine is off-dry, full bodied with low acidity, medium plus alcohol, and pronounced flavour intensity following the nose. Ripe peach and lychee are immediately apparent primary flavours; vanilla is also present in the palate as a secondary flavour and ginger as a tertiary flavour on the medium length off-dry finish. This is a good wine with intensity and length.
