Man the Appasiemento is really showing in this wine. Yowza. Tar, roses, raisins. Smells almost like Lessona Sforzato. Really weird. Some nice older library books, old wood and sultana. What a crazy nose. I like it. Palate is much more classic than the nose suggests. Big, ripe but also classy and elegant with dark cherry fruit and wood shop shavings. Luscious and juicy but my only issue is it’s drying and the tannins outpace the fruit. Drink now versus aging it longer.

Nose is lovely dusty cherry flower. Very pretty. Maybe some pink rose. Some raisins.
You get some raisins on the palate. Lovely texture. Delicious in an unusual sort of way. You get that Raisin but an elegant Raisin without the weight and alcoholic oomph Of say an amarone.
Terrific elegant finish.
A very distinctive wine. In a good way.

What a nose. Embers, smoke, spice, loam, superbly mineral and almost saline. Beautiful cherry fruit under it all. Dark and so perfumed. Huge spice and aromatic depth while also being a kind of restrained wild. Lovely, penetrating aromas. Can’t get enough. Palate has just ridiculous juicy and dense fruit with substantial tannins. Bright cherry fruit and wonderful freshness. Huge acids. Terrific concentration, freshness and energy. This is so complete. A baby but still delicious. Leaves a fruit/tannin impression for minutes. Very solid 9.4.

... 2 hours in this is the best amarone ever. 30% of the grapes were dried. So it’s not shocking. You sort of need to reorient your brain and accept what it is. But once you do it’s amazing. It has elegant raisins but also blasting balancing acidity.
This is almost two wines in one at this point. Pop and pour is normal hot year lessona. With air it’s something altogether different. So in one level that’s confusing. On another it’s a beautiful surprise. Welcome to small production middle of nowhere alto Piemonte.

Such a soulful wine. Spice & cherry on the nose, palate starting to advance, softening tannins, juicy cherry fruit, plenty of fresh acidity, tobacco, leather. Silky texture. Fabulous & a beautiful pairing with entrecôte.

Palate is juicy and dense cherry. Perfect balance between density fruit and acidity. Really well made.
