Cracking wine. 2007 vintage drinking superbly after a short decant. Wonderful dark plummy fruit but backed by nuances of truffle, french oak, velvety tannins and a long, long finish-- if this was from Pomerol it would be 3 times the price!

90/100 A great reason to drink Merlot, with age this could be a great Pomerol alternative.
Just released this single vineyard Merlot is from the Roverti plot. Only released in good years there was no 2010. It opens with dark chocolate, liquorice and doesn't take long to show character, intensity, some truffled black fruit.
The palate is rich, dense with wonderful active acid and black fruit an has that iconic fine polished Merlot tannin and why I love Pomerol.
The finish is intense, deep and long.

The finish is a tad shallow verses other years, feels the same as the 09 Villa Amarone I had recently, so maybe a vintage issue.
