Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon
Dusty blackberries. Very telltale Oakville profile. Strong acidity. But definitely a baby.

Apr 1st, 2018I assumed this would be fairly tight knit, but was pleasantly surprised. Poured really dark in the glass and was definitely a darker profile but there was an elegance to the finish. Blackberry, smoked cedar, dried herbs on the palate with a lavender type finish. Paired well with 2” thick prime cut bacon at Fort Worth’s newest steakhouse. 👌

Jan 9th, 2018Fan of oakville fruit. Big, round, dry. Well made, but think it needs some time in the bottle for real character to show.

Dec 8th, 2017After all day being a tannic monster...
Roast coffee on the nose, dry earth, extraordinary concentration.

Good, but just tastes like Napa cab. I expect more for a $50 bottle. Silky and smooth however - not as rich as I thought It'd be. More of an Alexander valley style honestly.

Oct 22nd, 2017Classic Cali cab. But just too hot. Liked first glass. I’d like a Côtes du Rhône for 2nd glass please.

Oct 19th, 2017Yes it's Friday, and it's time for my Cabernet fix.
Beautiful color of dark purple with a purplish rim.
Nice nose of wild flowers, blueberries, currants, plums, cooked cherries, oak, vanilla, licorice, earth, spices, smoke, chocolates, mocha, alcohol, dark coffee, peppercorn and spices.
Medium plus in body and rich, with medium plus acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate with blackberries, plums, currants, oak, vanilla, licorice, earth, spices, green vegetables, bell pepper, leather, smoke, chocolates, mocha, wood, beef jerky and peppercorn.
Long finish with angular tannins and black pepper.
This Napa Cabernet Sauvignon from Oakville is fantastic. Spicy and complex, however, it is not balanced yet. Too young and harsh right now, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. A very typical Napa nose and palate with a great finish.
I have another bottle that I will keep for at least 5 more years. Needs to be opened for an hour or so to show complexity and tannins.
I found it to be better than the 2012 vintage.
Aged for 22 months in French oak barrels (60% new).
14.9% alcohol by volume.

Can’t go wrong with a dependable winery in a great vintage. Delicious black fruits commingled with cedar, mocha, herbal spices, and touch of smoke. Delft use of oak. Round acidity. Good balance. Ultra smooth tannins.
Long life ahead.

2013. Hard to find too many flaws in this one.
