Gramercy Cellars
Forgotten Hills Vineyard Syrah
Walla Walla Valley, Oregon/Washington, USA

Pale purple in color.
Strong nose of black currants, plums, light oak and chocolate notes.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with red and black fruits, light wood, spices, coffee, earth, dark chocolates, tobacco leaf, herbs and peppercorn.
Tangy finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.
This Single Vineyard Syrah from Walla Walla Valley is much lighter than I expected it to be. Engaging and interesting. Complex, fruit forward and easy drinking. A nice sipping wine.
A blend of 97% Syrah and 3% Viognier. Grapes were fermented with wild yeast in concrete vats and aged in neutral French oak barrels for 22 months. A small production of less than 3,500 bottles.
13.5% alcohol by volume.
90 points.
$65.

Oct 30th, 2022Bright red fruit, red plum, ripe raspberry and a hint of cranberry. Slick tannins that grab slowly and hang on pleasantly. Yum!

Love the spice level here. Potpourri in the nose, silk and elegance in the mouthfeel. Soft tannins wrap the blue and red fruit very nicely. 3 year old barrels or more used on this. No new oak.

Blueberries, ripe red fruits, black olive, pepper, smoked meat. Medium acidity, med+ tannins and a long finish. Much bigger and in your face than lagniappe.

Cinnamon and mild aroma of cloves on the nose.
On the palette, the wine is lithe. Mild white pepper mingles with cherries and licorice. Tannins are fully resolved. This wine is ready to be consumed over the next 24 months. Cellaring beyond this point may not add anything.
