A glass at the bar at Rattray’s in Mala Mala...Sabi Sands.

This Becks is the best by the glass sparkling I’ve had since being in South Africa.

A nice mix of reductive & oxidative styles. The nose shows slightly bruised red apple, pear, lemon, overripe pineapple, tropical melons, lime, touch of creamed ginger, soft volcanic minerals, understated chalkiness. Withering yellow lilies and waning spring flowers.

The body is full and rich. The acidity quite high. Pronounced minerality on palate and penetrating spice, baguette crust. Slightly bruised red apple, pear, lemon, overripe pineapple, tropical melons, lime, touch of creamed ginger, soft volcanic minerals, understated chalkiness. Withering yellow lilies and waning spring flowers.

Photos of; the African Sunset on our afternoon/twilight safari, Sofia after just landing in Skukuza, our first Giraffe sighting dining on his favorite food...tree and our roughing it accommodations in the bush.

Sipping Fine Wine

Graham Beck entering its third generation as a family winery, established in 1983 when entrepreneur Graham Beck purchased Madeba farm outside the Western Cape town of Robertson. A blend of 53% Chardonnay and 47% Pinot Noir, aromas of tropical fruits and biscuit notes, vivid crisp acidity on medium finish ending with yeasty notes. Nice value.
